Kia Ora everyone!

So this week, and last week was Christmas and New years. leading up to Christmas, I was able to do heaps of service with a guy who live down in Turangi (not a member yet)named H and we mowed about three or four lawns with different devices of destruction, including a scythe and a machete. It was wild. I was actually getting pretty good at mowing the lawn with the scythe; they don't trust the palangi with a machete oh well; I could pretty close down giving it a good haircut, but it ruined it when a actual lawnmower came through and made it look ok so what ever. Later, we dumped all of the grass at the Marea or Ma- RR-I ( Maori cathedral) for all of the palangi like my self. we were able to burn heaps of grass and a suit of a missionary that just left. Later, we had a mean feed and were able to go back to the flat. Christmas morning I was able to open all of my presents, and might I say, Thankyou to everyone who sent me something, you know who you are and I really can't express how grateful I am for receiving those gifts. WE used the Nerf pistols to hunt flies in our flat and now we have a hunting show about fly hunting. We did go play Rugby which was awesome, until I tripped my trainer and his knee went straight to my shin. It killed but we kept playing and later found out that I actually got my shin pretty good and turned it like a black yellowish kinda thing but it is healing up nicely now. Then I got to go and skype my Family on our Monday which was AWESOME!!! I MISS YOU ALL SO MUCH!!!!! I am still waiting on my Family Christmas Package but It is good it is just taking too long for little impatient me. Later I had my first Zone meeting  this week and that was awesome seeing president for my interviews, and meeting everyone. I also got to go shopping a little up in Rotorua And get some shirts. Rotorua stinks though. It smells Like sulfur all the time. We finally were on our way down and now we are in the end of the transfer here and there is three transfers in this area until I move to the next one. I also got to mow another lawn with a broken lawnmower which was awesome! It didn't really have a Wheel on the back so we basically held up the mower the whole time and now we are swole as the goal. We gave each other haircuts this week and now I have got a fat line of obedience carved into my hair because a Samoan gave me the haircut. Oh well my combover hides it pretty well. It was really weird not being able to party or light fire works off for the new year. POW wars is next week, apparently all of the islanders form different cities get together and have a mean game of Rugby and just smash each other. We can't play because it is too dangerous but I can't wait to watch it! I miss you all!

Kia Ora all

So this last week we tracted all day and fin ally met a new guy named simon, He is a beekeeper. He wants to learn more about us which is good. He is of the Ratana Faith which is a maori religion. His Honey that he sells is like world famous and sells for 900 a kilo though. We later went to Tokoroa and had a zone meeting where we baked and i am not even exaggerating to the least, 4000 snickerdoodles. For real our Zone leaders are crazy. You see, your average person would be like ah whatever Cuz, you had blenders and mixers and stuff. Well here in New Zealand, they don't believe in dishwashers, air conditioning, and blenders. So we mixed it all by hand and ended up startinging at 12 in the afternoon, and finishing at 10:30 last night. It was insane! I am trying to get all the pics for it but it is slow. I got a package and I almost cried I was so happy. I can't open until christmas though. My Trainers Mom Made me a stocking though and that was nice. I love it here. I went with Elder Olcott last monday and went on some hikes through that forest in Lord of the Rings. You wouldn't believe how perfect the forest was for a movie set. It was cool as. All of the trees here grow in straight lines and that was weird but When I come Back I am so going to hammock in them. They are literally the perfect hammock trees. One of the elders in Tupo are teaching us how to fire dance too. He is a big Samoan. We are really trying to become consecrated missionaries right now. It is alot more difficult than you think. We are happier though when we do it. We also are eating at these little Fish and chip shop here in Turangi that are awesome! They are known to be the best in the mission or so I have heard. I tried to eat a sea urchin and it was nasty as. Just imagine a Wet booger sliding down your throat. I still ate it though. We did a big service Yesterday and we cleaned out a full garden. I really got homesick and thought of my mom. Ha stupid Gardening. I miss you all. The Work is good and more importantly,

GOD IS GOOD!

Happy Holidays And Kia Kaha!

Kia Ora,

Hey every one NZ is AWESOME!!!! I am at my first area right now and it is pretty good. We are at a little town at the bottom of lake Tupo calle Turangi, and there is like no one here. We proselyted and knocked every door in 3 days. That is how small this place is. But we are teaching a couple of Families. The Thompson family is probs my favorite here in turangi but the dad is the national Jiu jitsu champion here in NZ. Actually that was the only family. Work is slow, but it is still there. We will be going fishing soon and the trout here are Huge! The Average is 5lbs. They are pretty too. One of the nice things about our flat is that we never run out of hot water because we are right on top of a giant lava pocket. we also have a tiny as branch of about 20 ish people on a good week. When I had my first conversation with a Maori guy here, It was unbelievable how thick his accent was. You couldn't even understand him, even though they guy was speaking english, he sounded like he was speaking in tongues. My trainer is actually from utah in Richfield and he is pretty sweet. He has gone Elk hunting with Karl Malone. If you guys go to my mission page or the Hamilton NZ mission page you can see some more pics of me doing service and also some on the Turangi and Tupo face book pages. Turangi is also at the base of the mount doom and the crazy forest in all of the lord of the rings movies, though I haven't seen any hobbits yet. Everything is expensive as here.

Arriving in the MTC

Dear Wonderful Missionaries,

You are am amazing group of missionaries with incredible potential!
Keep in mind who you now are - a Missionary; one of the Lord's Messengers of
Light. You are no longer a YSA and that transition needs to be taken
seriously and accomplished quickly in the way you act, dress, groom and
interact with others. The Wards you will be serving in don't need more YSAs,
they need missionaries who know who they are and what their purpose is. As
Elder Uceda taught us on Tuesday; our job is to 'make disciples'. You are
all capable of doing that!

We love you and are so grateful to be a part of your exciting journey!

Lots of love
Sister Howes
